SGI
The SGI runs a different window manager than most of the other computers around here. Here are some shortcuts I've gleaned from various sources, they are worth memorizing, or you can usually just type:
cat /net/dbs/sgi
This table lists the functions invoked by using Alt and the function keys.
| ALT | FUNCTION |
|---|---|
| 1 | raise -- pull to top of window stack |
| 3 | lower -- push to bottom of window stack |
| 4 | close |
| 5 | restore -- normal size from maxed or minimized. |
| 7 | move |
| 8 | size |
| 9 | minimize -- also upper right dot |
| 10 | maximize -- also upper right square |
| 12 | exit |
Making a snapshot of your buttons
To make a snapshot of your buttons / menus, use the program "snapshot". It's a little hard to use, but makes nice pictures. I think you have to use the left mouse button to define a region and then the right to save the file. Then use xv to change snap.rgb to a gif, jpg, or png.
